Robin Van Perfect?..

By Andrew Cardey

…just one of the numerous play on words used to describe the talent that is Robin Van Persie. There is no denying the fact the so-called ‘Flying Dutchman’ is one of only the few prized assets still playing at the Emirates since the departure of Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas, however I do think the exit of Samir and Cesc has left the door ajar for Van Persie to light up the stage and put his injury blighted career at Arsenal behind him and cement himself in the history books. Barclays Premier League Power Shift

By Dan Webster

“Suicidal football” is not a phrase often used in describing a Manchester United performance. Those were the words, however, that manager Sir Alex Ferguson chose to describe his side’s display at Old Trafford on Sunday. There is no doubt that their 6-1 mauling at the hands of Manchester City will have been a shock to the system for both Ferguson and his players, but just how significant is it in terms of the Premier League’s power balance? The rise and rise of Norwich City

By Cory Varney

It was surreal as Kevin Lisbie nodded in the fifth. It wasn’t even half time yet; the Canaries were trailing 0-5 to Colchester. After a devastating relegation, hope had been restored to those at Carrow Road. Yet it soon evaporated. The man stood in the opposing dug-out that day was one Paul Lambert, a fiery Scotsman, a born winner and someone who was being lined up by the Norwich City hierarchy as Bryan Gunn’s replacement. They moved swiftly and within 11 days, Mr. Lambert was taking over the reigns at Norwich. Read More »

Rafa turns up heat on Kean

By Chris Ostler

A classy brace from Rafael Van Der Vaart was enough to see off bottom of the league Blackburn at Ewood Park and pile more misery on Rovers boss Steve Kean.

The Dutch ace found the net in the first half with sweeping side-footed finish past Paul Robinson after a flowing move orchestrated by the inform Kyle Walker. Read More »

Aston Villa 1-2 West Bromwich Albion

By Paul Punter

A controversial sending off helped West Brom on their way to a first win at Villa Park since 1979. Chris Herd’s contentious sending off in the thirty sixth minute proved decisive, after Darren Bent had opened the scoring from the penalty spot, an innocuous clash with Jonas Olsson gave the Baggies a numerical advantage they didn’t waste. Chris Brunt did send the resulting penalty wide but it was only a matter of time before Olsson scored with a header from a corner on the stroke of half time. Paul Scharner scored the winning goal with an athletic finish which rewarded the Baggies dominance. The result means West Brom are now unbeaten in 4 matches and lie in 10th position alongside Aston Villa both with 11 points. Read More »

This is the one

By Allan Valente

Time has an invariable habit of changing things. Some people use it as a healer, while others grumble at a loss of youth as the clock ticks away mercilessly.

It certainly has been kind to Manchester City. Little more than a decade ago fans from the blue half of the city would head out every other weekend to parts unknown to watch their team compete in the third tier of English football. On Sunday they will travel the short distance to Old Trafford for a top of the table clash with their greatest rivals. Read More »
