Aston Villa 1-2 West Bromwich Albion

A controversial sending off helped West Brom on their way to a first win at Villa Park since 1979. Chris Herd’s contentious sending off in the thirty sixth minute proved decisive, after Darren Bent had opened the scoring from the penalty spot, an innocuous clash with Jonas Olsson gave the Baggies a numerical advantage they didn’t waste. Chris Brunt did send the resulting penalty wide but it was only a matter of time before Olsson scored with a header from a corner on the stroke of half time. Paul Scharner scored the winning goal with an athletic finish which rewarded the Baggies dominance. The result means West Brom are now unbeaten in 4 matches and lie in 10th position alongside Aston Villa both with 11 points. Read More »
